AERO CLUBHUIS
The Nijmeegse Aeroclub in Malden wanted a new interior for their clubhouse. They had a lot of second-hand items and wanted something new, fresh and above all, get rid of the office feeling. They had an extremely low budget and wanted to reuse as much as possible.
My inspiration came from research into gliding, and how it originated. There I saw beautiful pictures from the past and came up with the idea to incorporate this into the interior.
By replacing the carpet in a light concrete floor, the office feeling quickly disappears. The white walls are decorated with a brick look, which creates a cozy atmosphere. Because the fridges and freezers in the kitchen were quite distracting, I placed a partition in front of them with chalk paint, so that a menu can be written on it. The ceiling is dark, because this makes the room smaller and the glider comes into its own in this way.
To dampen the noise, there are large Persian carpets on the floor, and on the ceiling wall of the reduction there are also sound absorbers. Pallet wood has been used to make the furniture. The school chairs have been reused, the piano is painted white and the bar stools reupholstered.
As they had requested, there is now a music corner, reading corner, youth corner, children's play corner and a spacious living room with a wide view of the field.
